Mr. Jie R. Lim, Quality Assurance Officer and Basic Education Research Coordinator represented the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC), during the research training titled “Getting Accepted in High-Impact Journals with AI-Assisted Research,” conducted by Dr. Genaro V. Japos, an esteemed research mentor and resource speaker. The training aimed to equip educators and researchers with strategies for successful publication in reputable academic journals through the effective integration of artificial intelligence tools in research.
The session, facilitated by Dr. Japos, brought together educators, scholars, and research enthusiasts from various institutions. It highlighted the role of AI in enhancing research quality particularly in data analysis, language refinement, and citation management while maintaining academic integrity and adherence to ethical standards in scholarly writing.
Mr. Lim actively participated in discussions and hands-on exercises focusing on responsible and strategic AI use. Reflecting on the session, he shared, “AI should be viewed not as a substitute for human intellect, but as a collaborator that refines our scholarly work and broadens our academic influence.”
The training further emphasized the importance of aligning research outputs with international publication standards, guiding participants to maximize the advantages of AI throughout the research process from idea development to journal submission.
Through this engagement, FCIC strengthens its commitment to cultivating a research-driven culture among its faculty and students. Mr. Lim’s participation is expected to inspire future initiatives aimed at improving the institution’s publication success and fostering innovation in research practices.
As part of the next steps, FCIC plans to cascade the learnings from the training through faculty development sessions and collaborative research mentoring, ensuring that the integration of AI contributes to the college’s pursuit of academic excellence and internationalization.
