FCIC Grade 10 Career Day: Guiding Students Toward Informed Senior High School Pathways

On January 28, 2026, FCIC Grade 10 students participated in a comprehensive Career Day program aimed at equipping learners with essential knowledge and self-awareness as they prepare for Senior High School. The activity provided students with opportunities to explore various career options and understand the academic pathways aligned with their interests and abilities.

The program commenced with a Career Occupational Contest, where students presented professions of their choice through creative and well-prepared attire. The contest was judged by the non-teaching staff composed of Mrs. Gemma Bolawan, Ms. Jodelyn Jomadas, and the Chairperson of the Board of Judges, Sr. M. Evangeline Ranin, OSF.

One of the highlights of the program was the lecture delivered by Mrs. Blanchie Torcino on the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum. She provided a detailed explanation of the two tracks offered—the Academic Track and the TechPro Track—and emphasized the importance of carefully selecting elective subjects in addition to the core subjects embedded in each track.

Another significant session, entitled “Dream, Discover, Achieve, and Craft Your Future Career Path,” was facilitated by Ms. Claire Jean Kintanar, RGC. The lecture underscored the value of identifying one’s passion, interests, and aptitude as fundamental components of career planning. To reinforce this, a workshop on RIASEC (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional) was conducted, enabling students to relate their personality traits to suitable career options.

In the afternoon, the Guidance Department administered the OTIS-LENNON School Ability Test, a standardized assessment designed to measure students’ cognitive abilities and support informed decision-making in both academic and personal contexts. Students were oriented on the importance of maintaining proper test-taking behavior to ensure reliable results.

Following the assessment, a series of learning sessions on technology-related careers, TechPro and TESDA course offerings at FCIC, and business entrepreneurship were delivered by school administrators and college faculty members, namely Mr. John Melchor Libres, Mr. Irneil Pepito, and Mr. Eugene Narra. These discussions further broadened students’ understanding of the opportunities available under the strengthened Senior High School program.

The program concluded with an insightful talk by Mr. Jie Lim, who emphasized the critical role of attitude in successfully completing Senior High School. He highlighted the importance of learning behavior, mental well-being, and sound decision-making as key factors in achieving academic and career goals.

Overall, the Career Day served as a meaningful platform that aligned students’ aspirations with practical career pathways, empowering them to make informed choices as they move forward in their educational journey.

The Career Day concluded with the recognition of participating sections through special awards in different categories, including Most Participative Section, Most Disciplined Section, and Section with the Highest Attendance.

The Guidance Department extends its sincerest gratitude for the administrative support, the dedicated and committed resource persons, the BOA on-the-job trainees, and most especially the Grade 10 advisers, Ms. Star-en Wenceslao and Ms. Reiza Enriquez, for their unwavering support and for taking care of the needs of the students.
