The Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception’s Department of Criminal Justice Education (DCJE) warmly launched the 2025–2026 academic year with a heartfelt onboarding orientation on July 23, 2025, held at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Audio-Visual Room. The event welcomed incoming freshmen into the Franciscan academic community, marking not just the start of classes, but the beginning of a transformative journey rooted in discipline, integrity, excellence, and service.
In true Franciscan tradition, the orientation was conducted in a spirit of unity and purpose. Students were introduced to the department’s academic goals, expectations, and most importantly, the Franciscan DNA a core set of values and regulations that guide both academic and personal conduct. More than a rulebook, the Franciscan DNA serves as a moral compass shaped by the principles of St. Francis of Assisi, calling students to live out justice, peace, integrity, and care for creation.
Gracing the event were key figures of the institution: beloved School President Sr. Mary Michael G. Bactong, OSF, and Sr. Maria Isabel Arnaiz, OSF from the Office of the Registrar, both of whom offered heartfelt words of welcome to the freshmen and the entire department. They were joined by Mr. Benedict L. Modina, RCrim, MPA, MSCrim, JD, Dean of DCJE, and Ms. Shiena Marie C. Bagtong, RCrim, Program Head, along with faculty and staff who shared in the spirit of encouragement and guidance.
The orientation served not only as a formal welcome but as a meaningful reminder that being part of the Criminal Justice program means embracing a higher calling. As students begin this new journey, they carry with them the mission of service and the responsibility to uphold the values that define a true Franciscan. Truly, the spirit of the day echoed the theme: “Move Forward Together.”
