FCIC Holds 2nd PTA Assembly, and 3rd Academic Achievers

BAYBAY CITY, LEYTE – The Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC) successfully conducted its 2nd PTA General Assembly and Recognition of Academic Achievers on February 15, 2026, at the FCIC Gymnasium, after the morning Holy Mass at Immaculate Conception Parish. The gathering brought together parents, faculty members, administrators and students in a shared commitment to transparency, collaboration, and academic excellence.

The afternoon session officially started at 1:00 PM with arrival and preliminaries followed by the Opening Prayer led by Mrs. Blanchie G. Torcino MAEd. The Notification of Quorum was delivered by PTA Vice-President Mrs. Fima Dañas, confirming that the assembly could formally proceed.

Ms. Fennie Lynn Y. Atilano PTA Secretary read the Minutes of the Previous Meeting, ensuring continuity and clarity in the association’s undertakings. She also presented the PTA Treasurer’s Report on behalf of Mrs. Menchu Sariol, who was unable to attend the assembly. The financial report provided parents with updates on the funds, collections and expenses, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to transparency.

The scheduled PTA President’s Time was skipped due to the absence of the PTA President. The program then proceeded directly to the Recognition of Third Quarter Academic Achievers at 2:00 PM. Students who demonstrated exemplary academic performance were honored highlighting FCIC’s continued commitment to academic excellence and student development.

Following the recognition, Sister M. Nerissa A. Casulla, OSF, Vice-President for Finance addressed the assembly regarding the Proposal for Tuition Fee Increase. She explained the rationale behind the proposal citing operational costs and the need to sustain and investing in teacher retention by providing fair and competitive compensation.

During the Open Forum parents actively participated by raising questions and expressing their concerns. After a thorough discussion, the parents together decided to close the motion and did not approve the proposed tuition fee increase at this time.

Parents further suggested that if the proposal would be reconsidered in the future, provisions such as discounts for early payment and the possibility of reusing school books for up to three years should be included to help ease the financial burden on families.

The administration acknowledged the feedback and assured the community that these concerns and suggestions would be carefully reviewed.

The assembly concluded with a Closing Prayer and formal adjournment at 3:35 PM, reaffirming FCIC’s commitment to transparency, partnership, and excellence in education.
