FCIC Joins Archdiocese of Cebu’s Inaugural Catholic Mass Media Congress, Promoting Faithful Engagement in Digital Media

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu hosted the first-ever biennial Cebu Metropolitan Catholic Mass Media Congress (CMCMMC) last September 28, 2024, with the theme “Look after Him” (Luke 10:35) at the Treasure’s Hall, IC3.

Representatives from The Reach Out Publication and The Rover Publication of the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC) attended the event. They were joined by the school president, Sister Mary Michael Bactong, OSF, reflecting the institution’s commitment to engaging with media initiatives.

The day started with a Holy Mass presided over by Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma, together with him were the Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil Billones, Boac Bishop Marcelino Antonio “Junie” M. Maralit, Jr. (Chair of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Social Communications), and other priests from participating dioceses.

More than 300 religious participants from the Archdiocese of Cebu, Diocese of Dumaguete, Diocese of Tagbilaran, Diocese of Talibon, Diocese of Maasin, Diocese of Mati , and. Archdiocese of Zamboanga.

The event continued with a keynote address by Bishop Maralit, followed by informative plenary talks from media veterans Ms. Kara David and Atty. Carine Asutilla-Lapid.

The event concluded with a Cultural Night, featuring performances from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and two plays by Teatro de San Pedro Calungsod.
