FCIC Joins Baybay City Athletic Meet 2025 as “Green Hornets”

The Baybay City Athletic Meet 2025, themed “Palaski sa Baybay,” officially opened with a vibrant program that celebrated athleticism, unity, and the spirit of community in Baybay City. Held on November 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Baybay City Sports Complex, the celebration began with an energetic parade where FCIC student-athletes proudly marched alongside the other District 1 schools under the delegation name “Green Hornets.” This year, FCIC presented a strong delegation composed of 77 student-athletes and 18 coaches, making a total of 95 participants who represented the school in various sporting events.

In Basketball 3×3, Coach Jenny Vabe Dayon led players Franz Anthony Rebuyas, Rain Salubre, James Jeriel Gumapac, and Jaime Valenzona as they competed at the Baybay National High School Gymnasium and Brgy. Hipusngo Gymnasium. For Basketball 5×5, Coach Ken Alexes Lor guided athletes Aldren Baay, Ammier Conrad Polo, Genrich Enage, John Noel Albarico, Rain Sanchez, Billie James Saluper, Marl Nicolo Almonicar, Kenzo Uy, Khent Jayden Balan, Niño Joy Repasa, and Brion Douglas Hicom, with games held at the Baybay National High School Gymnasium. The Volleyball team, coached by Mr. Aldren Derecho and Ms. Chelsea Ann C. Olan, featured players Nico Ardian Toyo, Sam Adriel Morillo, Patt Domienic Lloveras, Russel Joseph Molato, Heaven Corpus, Leam Mar Aralan, Aki Shiozaki, Nicole Marie Nite, Donna Pepito, Jamaica Puerto, Rhea Bulawan, Jhanica Radam, Carlie Elizhah Salabao, Roxette Gilbuena, Rebecca Astorga, Therese Allison Dejos, and Mutya Arradaza, competing at the Brgy. Kilim Gymnasium and Brgy. Candadam Old Gymnasium.

In Badminton, Coaches Criselda Pernitez and Jedd Anghag trained players Kian Yap, Jaydhel Paler, Bobby Rubio, Dancarlo Nopal, Daphne Alianza, Misha Valenzona, Lalea Elise Andres, and Reilee Nia Oceña, who showcased their skills at the Badminton Club Building in the Baybay National High School campus. The Table Tennis team, coached by Ms. Resza Enriquez and Mrs. Star-en Wenceslao, included players Deo Favente P. Bartolini, Jan Robert Calzada, Dione Niña V. Godoy, Zillah Wayne B. Bandalan, and Rhian Cassandra C. Ababat, with matches held at the Baybay City Central Mall. Meanwhile, the Lawn Tennis squad, coached by Ms. Rosemarie Plazo and Ms. May-ann Fernandez, was composed of Juan Miguel Ciabu, Ace T. Nablea, Zed Samson, Junel Loui Paña, Julianne Mae Ciabu, Dhanity Cayunda, and Louise Theresia Laurente, competing at the Baybay City Tennis Court.FCIC’s Billiards representative, Thuens John Alba, competed at the Lanzar Billiard Place, while in Swimming, Coach Angela Mendoza led swimmers Vidal Dave Salubre, Doshi Poliquit, and Florian Blase Dutollo, with events held at the Binaybayon Aquatic Center. The Chess team, coached by Ms. Aleida Fe Nogal and Ms. April Jane Verterra, featured players Doniel Theodore Diaz, Angel Kymae Catipay, and Alfiya Shey Cariaga, who competed at the Binaybayon Convention Center (2nd Floor). For Dancesport, Coach Melody Joyce Lor mentored dancers Francis Bulawan, Jellian Plaza, Kristhele Angelique Martinez, and JM Empuesto, with performances held at Binaybayon Convention Center Hall B. The Athletics team, coached by Ms. Remelyn Gumba, consisted of Nancy Leones, Christa Louise Oquias, and Kimverlee Akyziah Margaret Lao, who competed at the New Sports Complex. Lastly, the Taekwondo team, coached by Mr. John Rafael Montejo and Mr. Rene Jemmar Alkuino, featured athletes Euan Khristauf Macairan, Jon Kirk Galili C. Tabudlong, Kenzie Angelo Rojo, and Yebin F. An, with bouts held at the Binaybayon Convention Center Main Hall.

The participation of FCIC in the Baybay City Athletic Meet 2025 brings significant value not only to the athletes but to the entire school community. This event strengthens the school’s commitment to holistic education, where students are encouraged to excel not only academically but also in physical development, teamwork, discipline, and character-building. Through their involvement in competitive sports, FCIC student-athletes learn responsibility, perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship—qualities that reflect the Franciscan values the school upholds.

Moreover, having 95 representatives from FCIC fosters a strong sense of pride and unity within the institution. It highlights the dedication of coaches who tirelessly mentor and support the athletes, proving how collaboration contributes to collective success. The event also enhances the school’s visibility in the wider Baybay community, showcasing FCIC’s capability to nurture talented and well-rounded individuals. As the Green Hornets compete in various categories, they serve as role models to younger students, inspiring future batches to participate, train harder, and embrace opportunities in athletics. This participation not only strengthens FCIC’s presence in district-level competitions but also reinforces its mission of forming disciplined, confident, and community-oriented learners.

The 2025 Baybay City Athletic Meet marks another meaningful chapter for FCIC as it proudly joins the celebration of athletic excellence and community spirit under the banner of the Green Hornets. With dedicated coaches, talented athletes, and the unyielding support of the school community, FCIC stands as a strong and united delegation in this year’s games. As the competitions continue, the school remains confident that its representatives will bring honor through their skill, discipline, and sportsmanship. Regardless of the final results, the true success lies in the lessons learned, friendships built, and values strengthened, proving once again that FCIC continues to mold students who excel in character, competence, and compassion.
