FCIC Midwives Take Oath in Tagbilaran Ceremony

Five newly-licensed midwives from the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC) proudly attended the national Oath Taking Ceremony for New Midwives held on December 8, 2025 at the Metro Center Hotel in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Organized under the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP), the solemn rite is a mandatory event for all newly-licensed professional midwives across the country, signifying their formal entry into the profession. The five passers successfully earned their licenses after taking the Midwifery Licensure Examination last November 2025, a milestone that reflects both their dedication and the quality of education at FCIC.

Representing FCIC were Shiena N. Lomongo, RM; Flordilus B. Albero, RM; Ruby N. Fernandez, RM; Karla C. Lagumbay, RM; and Janice D. Francisco, RM, who stood among seventeen participating schools and universities at the ceremony. They joined a total of 122 registered midwives from across the Philippines who took their oath together, marking a collective celebration of achievement and commitment to the profession. Accompanied by their ever-supportive College Dean, Ms. Aisa Castillon-Porcare, RM, BSM, MMPHA, the five Franciscan midwives carried the name of their alma mater with pride. Their participation reflected FCIC’s commitment to nurturing healthcare professionals who embody competence, compassion, and Franciscan values.

The program began with registration at nine o’clock in the morning, followed by a Eucharistic Thanksgiving Mass led by Rev. Fr. Crisolito Giangan. After the singing of the National Anthem and the PRC Hymn, the oath-taking rites commenced under the guidance of master of ceremonies Rex Eduardbern H. Arabejo, RN, RM, MAN. Several speakers delivered opening remarks, introduced the inductees, and offered closing messages, ensuring the success and solemnity of the event.

For the newly-licensed Franciscan midwives, this milestone marks the beginning of their professional journey and a trajectory toward personal growth and true professionalism. Carrying with them the values of excellence, humility, dignity, and stewardship, they are now called to serve as responsible healthcare providers who bring new and precious lives into the world. For the College of Midwifery at FCIC, this achievement ushers in a new era of licensed professionals, reinforcing the institution’s mission to form graduates who are both skilled and values-driven.
