On August 30, 2024, the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC) commemorated a day of profound spiritual and communal significance. The day’s events began with a solemn mass, where Rev. Fr. Arthur Duarte delivered an insightful homily on the gospel parable of the foolish and the wise. His words resonated deeply with the attendees, offering a reminder of the virtues of wisdom and discernment in their daily lives. Following the mass, the newly elected FCIC officers solemnly took their oaths of office, pledging to uphold their duties with integrity and commitment to their fellow FCICians and the Lord Almighty.
The afternoon’s festivities unfolded with the much-anticipated acquaintance party, held in the vibrant atmosphere of the FCIC gymnasium. The event commenced with a melodious performance by the Poverello Chorale, captivating the audience and setting the stage for the warm welcome remarks delivered by the school President, Sister Mary Michael Bactong, OSF. The celebration welcomed the incoming Grade 7 and Grade 11 students, promoting new connections among the FCIC community. A series of dynamic presentations followed, including performances by the Dance Club, Performing Arts Company, Classroom Representatives, and the Student Council, each group leaving the audience in awe of their talents.
A memorable highlight of the event was the traditional Kuratsa dance, gracefully performed by the Junior High School and Senior High School candidates for Mr. and Ms. Friendship, beautifully showcasing cultural heritage and school spirit. The evening reached its peak with the crowning of the representatives from Grade 9 Peace as Mr. and Ms. Friendship 2024-2025, a moment met with enthusiastic cheers from their classmates. Adding to the spirit of camaraderie, the audience was thrilled by a surprise performance from the Junior and Senior High School faculty, who showcased their unexpected talents. The day concluded on a high note as a local band took the stage, leading a lively jamming session and disco that invited students to dance and revel in the festive atmosphere that filled the gymnasium.
The Bequeathal and Acquaintance Party not only celebrated leadership transitions but also fortified the bonds among students, making it a night to remember at the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception.
