PAFTE VIII  Induction of Newly Elected Executive Officers for 2024-2026

The Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators Region VIII (Eastern Visayas) Chapter inducts its newly elected executive officers on September 14, 2024 at Acacia Restaurant, Tacloban City with DR. FILOMENA T. DAYAGBIL CNU University Professor, PAFTE  Vice President for Visayas as the inducting officer.  The officers of  PAFTE VIII are the following:  Regional Chair:  DR. JOYCE M. MAGTOLIS – Leyte Normal University, Vice-Chair: DR. LAURA B. BOLLER, – Samar State University, Secretary: DR. MARIA VICTORIA A. GONZAGA – Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception, Treasurer:  DR. REY ANTHONIE D. ALVEZ – Eastern Visayas State University,  Auditor: PROF. MANILYN S. SABLAN –  Samar State University, PR: -DR. ROUSHIELLE FRANCE S. LONDON – Palompon Institute of Technology. 

The Philippine Association for Teacher Education (PAFTE) is a five-decade strong association of teachers and teacher educators which has been in the forefront of teacher education since its birth on January 30, 1968 and its registration with Securities and Exchange Commission on March 17, less than two months after its birth. Its incorporators were Dr. Cresencio Peralta, Dr. Norma Laconico, Dr. Francisca Roxas-Trinidad, Dr. Aurelio Elevazo and Atty. Ponciano B. Pineda. They  served as the first Board of Directors, together with Dr. Amparo Lardizabal, Dean Manuel Gapuz, Dean Hilda Dizon, Dr. Edith Asis, Father Patrick o’Connor, SJ and Dean Gloria Santos.

VISION:  PAFTE  is a professional learning community of world class teacher educators.

MISSION: ​ At the front-line of educational reform and teacher development, PAFTE commits itself  to:

  1. the continuing professional development of its members through  research and publication, lectures, conferences and seminar workshops and local and international educational tours; 
  2. the  promotion of collaboration  among members and teacher education institutions;
  3. the Philippine Professional Standards for Teacher;
  4. an active and intelligent  participation in the discussion and resolution of national educational  problems and issues; and to the   
  5. establishment of local and international linkages with other organizations and teacher education institutions.

Through the years, PAFTE has ensured that teacher education in the country would not be at a standstill. The officers and members joined hands in setting up a united front in issues of change affecting teacher education.  PAFTE’s pacesetting for teacher education encompasses both pre-service and in-service teacher training. It is recognized by the Department of Education as its partner in curriculum and resource development for teacher education.

DR. FILOMENA T. DAYAGBIL stresses in her message “Let us loose ourselves in the service of others!”  This message aligns with one of the Franciscan values which is giving loving service to everyone.   The officers commit themselves to unite with PAFTE in attaining its vision as  a professional learning community of world class teacher educators.
