Baybay City, Leyte — The Secondary Boys Tennis Team of the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC) delivered a commendable performance during the Baybay City Meet held on December 1, 2025, at the Baybay National High School Tennis Court, showcasing grit, determination, and sportsmanship throughout a series of single-elimination matches.
FCIC Athletes Compete in Doubles and Singles Events
The competition opened with the Doubles Secondary Boys category, where FCIC representatives Zed Marc Philip Samson and Junel Loui Pana (FCIC Baybay I) faced Baybay District 4. Despite their consistent effort and teamwork, the pair fell short and concluded the match with a score of 0–8. Their performance, however, secured FCIC a bronze medal in the doubles category—an achievement that reflects their perseverance amid strong competition.
In the Singles B division, FCIC’s Ace T. Nablea (Baybay I) matched up against Baybay District 3. Nablea fought hard but was ultimately defeated with a score of 1–8, finishing with a bronze medal for FCIC.
The highlight of the morning rounds came from the Singles A division, where Juan Miguel Ciabu of FCIC Baybay I delivered an impressive victory against Baybay District 7, securing an 8–1 win. His outstanding performance propelled him into the championship match scheduled that same afternoon.
A Hard-Fought Championship Match
In the finals, Juan Miguel returned to the court to represent FCIC Baybay I against Baybay District 3. Demonstrating resilience and strong court presence, he challenged every rally and maintained momentum throughout the match. Despite his valiant effort, he settled for a close 3–8 finish, earning FCIC a silver medal in the Singles A category.
Celebrating FCIC’s Dedication and Spirit
The FCIC Secondary Boys Tennis Team ended the competition with three podium finishes:
- Singles A – Silver (Juan Miguel Ciabu)
- Singles B – Bronze (Ace T. Nablea)
- Doubles – Bronze (Zed Marc Philip Samson & Junel Loui Pana)
