FCIC Non-Teaching Personnel’s Orientation: Living in Franciscan Way through Simplicity, Service and Joy

The Non-Teaching Personnel (NTP) Orientation for School Year 2026–2027 was successfully conducted on June 16, 2026, at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception (FCIC), Baybay, Leyte. The activity served as an important gathering for the institution’s non-teaching personnel, providing them with valuable information on employee benefits, financial management, and the Franciscan values that continue to guide the college community. The orientation aimed to warmly welcome both new and returning non-teaching personnel while equipping them with essential knowledge and skills that would support their professional responsibilities and personal well-being. It also sought to strengthen their understanding and appreciation of the Franciscan way of life, characterized by simplicity, service, and joy.

The program began with the registration of participants, followed by an opening prayer that set a reflective and meaningful tone for the day’s activities. A video presentation highlighting the institution’s mission and values was shown, inspiring participants and reminding them of their vital role in supporting the college’s educational objectives. The gathering then proceeded with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the FCIC Hymn, fostering a sense of unity, pride, and commitment among the attendees.

One of the highlights of the orientation was the welcome address delivered by Sister M. Andrea Tomanda, OSF, DM, School President. In her message entitled “Living the Franciscan Way: Simplicity, Service, and Joy,” she encouraged the non-teaching personnel to embody these core Franciscan values in their daily work and interactions with colleagues, students, and stakeholders. Sister Andrea emphasized that every member of the institution, regardless of position, contributes significantly to creating a nurturing and faith-filled learning environment. Her inspiring words reminded participants that service performed with humility, compassion, and joy reflects the true spirit of the Franciscan mission.

Another significant part of the program was the presentation of the InLife Employee Group Plan by Mr. Luigis Galvez. During his session, he provided a comprehensive overview of the insurance benefits and coverage available to employees. Participants gained a clearer understanding of the importance of insurance protection and how these benefits contribute to their security and peace of mind. The discussion also allowed employees to ask questions and clarify concerns regarding their coverage and entitlements.

The orientation also featured a Financial Literacy session facilitated by the OSF Sisters. This informative segment focused on practical financial management and responsible planning for the future. Topics discussed included the importance of distinguishing between saving and spending, the benefits and services offered by the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, and the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG). The session likewise emphasized the value of building emergency funds and introduced participants to basic investment concepts that can help improve long-term financial stability. Through these discussions, attendees were encouraged to develop sound financial habits and make informed decisions regarding their resources.

Participants actively engaged in the various sessions, demonstrating enthusiasm and interest in the topics presented. The orientation provided an opportunity not only to acquire useful information but also to strengthen camaraderie among the non-teaching personnel. The exchange of ideas and experiences further enriched the learning experience and fostered a stronger sense of community within the institution.

The program concluded with closing remarks delivered by Ms. Jodelyn Jumadas, NTP President. On behalf of all non-teaching personnel, she expressed sincere gratitude to Sister M. Andrea Tomanda, OSF, DM, for her inspiring message and unwavering support. She also thanked the resource speakers and organizers for making the orientation meaningful and beneficial. The activity formally ended with a closing prayer led by Sister M. Christilyn Cadarve, OSF.

Overall, the Non-Teaching Personnel Orientation successfully achieved its objectives of welcoming and informing employees, promoting financial awareness, and reinforcing the Franciscan values that serve as the foundation of FCIC. The knowledge and insights gained during the event will undoubtedly contribute to the personal growth, professional development, and continued commitment of the non-teaching personnel as they carry out their important roles in the institution.
