FCIC Conducts Orientation of the Matatag Curriculum to the Faculty

July 16, 2024, the FCIC Main-AVR was buzzing with excitement as faculty members gathered for an important event: the orientation of the new Matatag Curriculum. This orientation was designed to provide the College of Teacher Education and General Education Faculty with a comprehensive overview of the curriculum, which is currently being phased into the Basic Education Department.

The event was hosted by Miss Gia Tuyor, a passionate and engaging College Faculty Member whose enthusiasm was contagious. Her dynamic presentation style set a warm and inviting tone for the session, ensuring everyone felt involved and eager to learn.

The Matatag Curriculum is a big step forward for FCIC and signifies a quality transformation in the school. It is centered around the learning process and promotes the development of skills such as a critical mind, creative spirit, and toughness in our students. Such an innovative thinking approach is a precursor to the development of coping skills that our students should take with them as they journey through a constantly changing world.

Dr. Deowel Abapo is a distinguished member of the faculty at FCIC and is also our resource speaker who delivered a gripping and impressive presentation about the Matatag Curriculum. He accentuated its original aspects and how it harmonizes with FCIC’s mission of educating holistic, well-rounded individuals. Dr. Abapo’s talk was both informative and thought-provoking showing us the myriad possibilities of the new curriculum in furthering teaching and student learning.

The session was lively and interactive, passion was observed among faculty members manifesting itself through active participation in discussions, and there was quality discourse as they asked thoughtful questions. The collaborative aspect of the environment played a key role in ensuring that every participant went home having a thorough understanding of the curriculum, its intention, and how to implement it in way that befits their individual background. We really had an unexpected awe as our staff was so active and supportive to the way this shift evolved

The goal of this orientation was to make it clear that the Matatag Curriculum will surely bring a new era of educational experience in the future teachers they will be teaching. This new curriculum is now in the implementation phase in the Basic Education Department and it is projected to provide a more detailed and holistic education to the students. Furthermore, the curriculum will now train them in the ability of the secondary school and higher to address the challenges of the modern world.

The orientation was held successfully due to the hard work and devotion of all the people involved. It was a kickstart of a new interesting chapter of FCIC’s educational journey. We are happy to observe the positive effect of the Matatag Curriculum on learners in the school, and we are pledged to render support to our teachers throughout the vital process of making this exceptional approach a reality.

The main idea of the Matatag Curriculum orientation presents itself as more than a mere

informational session; it was an occasion to celebrate progress and a manifesto for education excellence in common. FCIC is pleased to carry on the curriculum launching programme, and our students will benefit from better learning programs.
